This past week I had a great meeting with Jenn Blake, owner of Scout Vintage Rental Co. It was fantastic to catch up a little while brainstorming a few ideas that needed a ground check (meaning “can this idea be planted and sprout?”). I have a deep appreciation for individuals like Jenn who not only started their business on total moxie, but offer much-needed encouragement to others, like me, to press on.

I’m madly working on my entry for the #SplendidSummer contest. It’s not quite ready for unveiling yet – pieces are still being moved into place. It’s been a lot fun to find the right pictures and in the process, recall great summer memories. One hurdle I didn’t account for, which has added to the delay, is finding the right sources to credit. (By the way: I’m not being paid for talking about this contest – just passing the word on.) Here’s one of my favorite finds thus far:

Are you watching the Opening Ceremonies tonight? I love the spirit of competition and look forward to the Summer Olympics every four years. There’s something about watching the athletes who medal, standing on the podium as their national anthem is played, watching their nation’s flag rising in the arena. There’s a look in their eyes – and their overall demeanor – that gets me each time.
