You Say Plaid. I Say Tartan.
For whatever reason October makes me think about tartan. Maybe it’s from watching too many movies set during the fall at a prep or ivy-league school, like Dead Poet’s Society, Rudy, or Good Will Hunting. It could be all the magazines have articles about getting ready for the holidays and everyone looks cozy in the warmly inviting, styled layouts. Or wrapping up in a Pendleton wool blanket during a fall picnic sounds perfect.
Tartan, aka plaid, is super easy and adds the perfect kick to a fall wardrobe. Personally I’m a fan of letting the pattern take front and center, so I tend to keep everything else simple. By the way: to me tartan is a bit more refined so skip the flannel to avoid lumberjack references and darted shirt pockets and snap-buttonss can turn a button-shirt toward western.

I say give tartan a chance. It might pleasantly surprise you.
