Pretty in Pink {for a Good Cause}
Michele and Jason recently threw a party as part of their fundraising efforts for the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in NYC (which they attended last weekend!). Leading up to the party the two asked various establishments they visited, like boutiques and restaurants, to donate prizes to their party. Michele and Jason did a great job is curating wonderful silent auction items and raffle prizes.
The couple lives in a beautiful top-floor condo overlooking Lake Union. I wanted to make sure the guests could enjoy the view and have fun yet elegant decor, keeping in mind what the event was really about: breast cancer awareness. Thanks to 80 pink and gold balloons and a pink fringe covered door, “elegant fun” was accomplished. To add a little shimmer to the party, I added small and large pink sparkling pink dots to the white ribbons hanging from the balloons. To keep it from being overwhelming, about half of the ribbons were “dotted.” Throughout the silent auction and food areas I placed small potted pink spray roses, wrapped in fuchsia tissue and tied with gold ribbon.
Michele envisioned a happy hour-like party, with people coming by after work – or before heading out on a Friday night – so the menu included items like tapas, an olive platter, local cheeses and meats board, and brie in brioche. And no party is complete without something sweet so mini cupcakes and shortbread cookies were ready for guests to enjoy. The bar included local favorites like Charles Smith’s Kung Fu Girl Riesling and Boom! Boom! Syrah and bourbon from Woodinville Whiskey Co.. I mixed one of my favorites, a pomegranate champagne punch, for those who wished to have a little bubbly.
