Claim Your State {favorite finds}
I’m so excited to share this Favorite Find with you today! Jessica Angel, owner of Oh So Antsy, and I first met in Salt Lake City during this past January’s Alt Summit Conference – only to find out we live less than 20 minutes away from one another in Seattle. How’s that for a small world?
Jessica creates amazing handmade jewelry in the shapes of states and countries. She also made the heart at the top of this post (unbelievably sweet). Her jewelry makes for a great gift – whether it’s for someone else or yourself (ahem). Yep – don’t forget yourself during the holidays; if you don’t show yourself love once in a while, it’s really hard to show others love.
Jewelry is a great gift for soon-to-be moms, new moms – and well, moms of younger and older kids. For a second, I’m going to focus on the soon-to-be and new moms. In those last few weeks – or months – of pregnancy and first few weeks as a new mom, there are so many changes, it can be really hard to feel a bit normal. Rings are a little dangerous since the water gain can vary, some bracelets can suddenly feel too tight, but necklaces and earrings can truly make a new mom feel like a million bucks. Once the grabby baby hands kick-in, 99.9% of new moms know how to handle it. If you’ve given a new mom jewelry, don’t be offended if it’s put away for a little while. It will come back out.
It could also be given to a mom who adopted a child as a way to show the beautiful diversity within her home. Or as a gift for an adopted teenager to celebrate her birth country.
I think this would also be a great gift for someone who deeply loves their home state – or leaving for school, moving away for a new job, or possibly stayed in another country for an extended amount of time and has strong ties to it (like the Peace Corps).
It would also be a thoughtful gift for a special friend, daughter, or niece serving in the military, far away from home.
My sister just had her second baby (welcome to the world sweet boy!). In thinking about what to give her as a “Congrats Mama” gift, I realized something from Jessica’s collection would be perfect and unique.
I placed an order for three states on a necklace as a gift: a small Oahu (where she was born); a medium Maryland (where she was married); and a large Virginia (where both boys were born). The hearts were added to note key cities on the two larger states. Each state was placed on its own ring so she could take them off/put them on as she pleased.
Thank you so much for letting me share this Favorite Find with you. I hope you check out Jessica’s shop and find a special gift for that someone special on your holiday list!
